Corrie’s Christmas present to us all: Jim McDonald

Angry Ulsterman Jim McDonald is to return to Coronation Street as part of a dramatic Christmas storyline, it has been revealed.

The mustachioed maniac left the Weatherfield seven years ago after being jailed for murdering drug dealer Jez Quigley.

However, despite killing a man and then going on the run from prison officers whilst on parole when he discovered that Liz was having an affair with a Blackpool landlord, Jim is due to be set free any day.

Given that his former wife has hardly been celibate since then, it looks likely that Jim’s Rover’s Return will pass by quietly.

“I don’t know yet what the storyline will be but it’ll be a big,” actor Charles Lawson, who plays big Jim told the Manchester Evening News.

“I don’t think they would bring Jim back for a pint in the Rovers.”

Charles, who is currently warming up for his comeback by playing the role of the evil Abanazar in Stockport Plaza’s production of Aladdin, also added that he has signed a contract for three months, though would stay on if asked.
