Holly and Fearn Go Dating

Holly and FearnThey certainly need no help themselves but “Holly and Fearn Go Dating” presenters, Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton attempt to find dates for lonely singletons.

They drive to the South West to meet Charlotte Howard who has not had a relationship last for more than 6 months; runs her own gardening business and does not get much opportunity to me people. Charlotte collects and wears clothes from the 1950s, was a former boxing MC and still lives with her mum and dad.

Holly and Fearne went to meet her at her home, and the reason for Charlotte being single quickly became clear. Her mother Judith, answered the door and attended the chat that Holly and Fearn had. Charlotte is an only child and very close to her parents (especially her mum) and anyone she dated would need to get use to the close relationship that she has with her mother. She explained that she was looking for someone bohemian with a creative streak and understands nature and the countyside.

Holly took Fearne into an Arts and music evening in Bristol where they met two potential candidates:

The girls then went to an open air festival to find men with a love of the outdoors and came across:

Charlotte went to Hell’s Kitchen for her date where Fearne and Holly chose for her to meet Ben (Fearne’s choice) and Simon (Holly’s choice). Her mini-date with Ben was quite competitive and there was no apparent spark. Charlotte then met Simon who was clearly nervous but she put him at his ease and she chose him to spend the rest of the date with.

The programme looked promising but ended rather abruptly, as there was an expectation that she might meet the other candidates or that there be some feedback on how the date went. The programme continues tomorrow with another singleton.

Corrie’s David accidentally drugs niece

Growing cannabis above Roy’s café, lying in court to protect murdering Tracy Barlow and being an all-round psychopath: Coronation Street’s Gail Platt has put up with a lot from teenage son David.

However, even she will have a hard time forgiving him for his next transgression.

In a forthcoming dramatic storyline, young Bethany Platt is to find his ecstasy stash hidden in one of her dolls and, mistaking them for sweets, ends up seriously ill in hospital after swallowing several of them.

Though David is initially reluctant to come clean, he eventually admits that he was minding the drugs for next-door neighbour Darryl Morton, to the shock and disgust of his family, a source of the show revealed.

Speaking to the website Digital Spy, 19-year-old actor Jack P Shepherd, who plays the troublesome teen, said: “I was quite excited because I’ve not really done emotional stuff before. I’ve done little bits but this is a huge storyline. It’s a character change for David.”

“The only way David knows how to get attention is by doing bad things. It’s the only time when people sit up and listen,” he added.

The drug-related episodes, which will be screened later this month, come soon after Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks tackled the tricky subject of teen anorexia

Eggheads

EggheadsEggheads is a daily quiz show aired on BBC2 in the early evening. It is hosted by Dermot Murnaghan and has two teams of 5 pitting their wits against each other. The resident team is known as “Eggheads” and consists of 5 winners of game shows as follows:

•    Kevin Ashman – winner of “World Quiz”;
•    CJ De Mooi – winner of “The Weakest Link”;
•    Judith Keppel – winner of “Who wants to be a millionaire?”;
•    Daphne Fowler  - winner of “Fifteen to one”;
•    Chris Hughes  - winner of “Brain of Britain”.

A team of 5 contestants challenge the Eggheads for a daily £1000 prize money – if no-one beats the Eggheads, then this amount is accumulated so that the prize total today was £57,000. The contenders were known as “The Pineapples” – 5 Oxford University graduates who play in pub quizzes at the Pineapple in Kentish Town.

The quiz started with “Head to Heads” where one of the challengers plays against one of the Eggheads (with no team conferring). The trick is to choose a challenger with a strong knowledge of a topic area against an Egghead with a low knowledge. The “Head to Head” topics were:

•    Entertainment
•    History
•    Sport
•    Arts and books

Three questions are asked to the challenger and Egghead in turn and they have to choose from 3 multiple choice answers. If the scores are even after three questions each, then there is a sudden death situation where they are asked questions directly with no choice of answers. The loser of the round can not participate in the final round and so the team loses one “brain”. Those who are left compete in the final where the questions are on General Knowledge.

It was a close run thing with the Pineapples putting up a good performance. However, the Eggheads won again and the prize fund rolls over to £58,000.

Hell’s Kitchen yet to heat up

Despite the promise of new head chef Marco Pierre White’s explosive temper, the latest series of ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen has so far failed to get the nation’s pulses racing.

Just 3.6 million viewers tuned into the first episode of the show, equivalent to around 17.1 per cent of the national audience share.

Significantly, seven million viewers saw the first episode of the show when Gordon Ramsey was in charge and even Gary Rhodes and Jean-Christophe Novelli managed to pull in 5.9 million viewers on  their  debut.

In fact, the celebrity chef was upstaged by the boyfriend of contestant Abbey Clancy , apparently a former call-girl and coke lover or something,  who showed up to lend his support on the first show.

Footballer Peter Crouch dined with Abbey’s family and even popped his head into the kitchen only to be asked abruptly to stay away by the Frenchman.

Speaking in the confessional, the WAG said: “When I saw him I thought I don’t want him to be here! At first I was a bit shy and thought he would put me off but it was really good to see him. We spend every day together so its quite hard to be away from him.”

Kath and Kim

Kath and KimKath and Kim is a sitcom , set in suburban Australia and is about the lives of a mother Kath Day-Knight and her daughter Kim Craig. Kath certainly does not act her age, is body conscious, her own fashion style and recently married to “Hunk of Spunk” Kel.  Kim is her lazy, inappropriately dressed daughter, who still gets her mother, her best mate Sharon, or her on/off husband Brett, to do everything for her.

This is the start of the fourth series of the award winning comedy and Kim and Brett have a baby, Epponnee-Raelene Kathleen Charlene Darlene Craig and are experiencing marital problems - yet again. Kath’s first husband Gary Poole has just turned up to reveal that he and Kath are still married (he is denying signing any divorce payments) and that Kath is a bigamist. Kath is concerned that she will be heading to jail and starts to prepare herself my getting out her stripey and arrows jumpers and is thinking of watching past episodes of Prisoner Cell Block H.

Gary is a shadey sort who can not even remember his daughter’s name and is basically after his half of the house. He also has a certain Michael Corleone following him.

Kath and Kel find out that they were not legally married (Kel has been jinexed at weddings), as Gary signs the divorce papers. Gary then goes off to live with Kim, arranges for a second mortgage on her house and runs off with $Aus 200,000.
Kim says  “he’s an entrprennnnnure” to which Kath replies, “he’s full of manuuuuure”. So homeless once again, Kim, Brett and baby move into Kath’s home (where she notices there are no marital noises through the paper-thin walls)

Kath and Kim works well as it explores the relationships between the family members and relies on their poor dress-sense and play on words. Can the fourth series live up to expectations?

Hell’s Kitchen boss admits women are better at cooking than men

Women are naturally better chefs than men, Hell’s Kitchen’s head chef Marco Pierre White has said.

The fiery Frenchman’s comments come as the new series of the reality show kicks off on ITV1, though he still spilt his ten charges into male and female teams in his first move since taking over from Gordon Ramsey.

“Women in my opinion are better cooks than men in the sense that they have a better palette, because their sense of smell is more acute,” Marco explained.

“They don’t take short cuts like men. They’re not as fast as men on the whole so they tend to be more precise in what they do.

“The reason why they tend not to rise to the top like chefs in that 3-star world is because they’re bullied.”

Among the celebrities putting themselves in the firing line of White’s famous temper are comedian Jim Davidson, TV presenter and one-time  Big Brother star Brian Dowling, actress Kelly LeBrock and former Blue singer Lee Ryan, already expected to be one of the show’s troublemakers.
