X Factor’s Cowell ‘pinning hopes on Hope’
Rather than acting as an impartial judge, X-Factor’s Simon Cowell is secretly pinning his hopes on girl group Hope being crowned the winner’s of this year’s contest.
According to the show’s official line, the group was put together as an experiment by Louis Walsh after its members showed potential but failed to make the grade as solo performers.
However, more cynical observers feel that Cowell had always intended to form a group out of boot camp drop-outs.
An insider of the show told the Daily Star that the chief judge is desperate for Hope to claim the title so they can go on and challenges the newly-reformed Spice Girls for the Christmas number one spot.
“A group has never won The X Factor but Simon is determined Hope will be the first. He believes they could be as big as the Spice Girls and he is determined to beat them in the battle for Christmas number one.”
However, a spokesman for the show stated: “Louis saw potential in a number of contestants at boot camp and offered them the opportunity to continue in the competition as part of a group. Simon has maintained from the start the idea would not work.
“However, now that he has been given the groups to mentor, he will make every effort to ensure his category has a chance at winning.”
