OB set to quit Hollyoaks
Sam “OB” O’Brien is set to leave the popular Channel 4 drama show ‘Hollyoaks’ after ten years on screen, according to reports.
Darren Jefferies, who has played OB for the past decade, has signalled his intention to seek out “new challenges” and the show’s producer has expressed his desire to give viewers the exit story line “that the character deserves”.
Jefferies’ decision to leave the soap will split up the much-loved on-screen duo of OB and Max Cunnigham, which saw him and Mat Littler nominated for best partnership at the British Soap Awards this year and in 2006.
“After ten years on the show I now feel the time is right to move on,” Jefferies is quoted as saying by the BBC. “It was a difficult decision to make and I will be sad to leave Hollyoaks and the wonderful cast and crew, but I am equally excited about the new challenges that lie ahead.”
Four of the Hollyoaks cast will be performing a medley of songs by the band T-Rex in the name of charity this evening (November 16th) as part of the BBC’s Children in Need fund-raising appeal.
