Celebrity chefs team up to make the nation eat well
Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver are to join forces as they continue their shared mission to change the eating habits of British people.
Following on from his successful campaign to have turkey twizzlers taken off school menus, Oliver is set to turn his attention to the world of chicken production in his new Channel 4 series Jamie’s Fowl Dinners.
Speaking at the launch of the show, which will air at the start of next year, head of factual entertainment at Channel 4 Andrew Mackenzie explained: “Jamie’s simple message will be ‘If you know what happens to a chicken before arriving on your plate, would you change the way you think about chicken?”
In the same fortnight-long season of food-related programmes.
Gordon Ramsay will channel his considerable anger into teaching the nation how to make fast, healthy cuisine in his new show Cook-a-Long-a-Gordon Live.
In addition, hat-wearing anatomist Dr Gunther von Hagens will attempt to lift the winter gloom by highlighting the effects of a poor diet in the show Eat Yourself to Death.
Channel 4’s winter schedule is also set to include a new US sitcom, Back to You, featuring former Fraiser star Kelsey Grammer, as well as a Big Brother spin-off show to be hosted by Dermot O’Leary.
Flirty Bannerman gets jungle boot
Former Eastender Marc Bannerman has become the first celebrity to get the boot from the Australian jungle in the latest series of I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here.
The 34-year old lasted just a week on the show, though during that time he became sufficiently close to singer Cerys Matthews to land him in hot water with his girlfriend.
Footballers Wives actress Sarah Matravers had flown half-way around the world for a pre-arranged meeting with Mark, though was on the first plane home once she witnessed his flirtatious behaviour.
The actor was greeted with champagne by hosts Ant and Dec, with the Geordie duo then immediately probing him over his relationship with the former Catatonia star.
“Nothing happened between us but it is really difficult not to crave a little bit of love,” he told them.
He added: “We really had a good time together. It’s a really strange scenario to meet someone that you really gel with. I didn’t expect that to happen at all. I just connected with her on a very deep level.”
However, once Marc was told that his behaviour in the jungle had forced his partner back to the UK, he stated: “I want to go back to London right now… I think I’ve embarrassed myself and I’ve got to live with that now.”

‘The real’ Spice Girls to be shown on BBC show
The BBC’s forthcoming documentary on the Spice Girls is set to be “explosive”, it has been revealed, with the popstars just as likely to be seen moaning and arguing as they are singing.
According to sources on the inside of the 90-minue special, entitled Spice Girls: Giving You Everything, the show will touch upon the rumours and in-fighting which have plagued the group over the years.
Simon Fuller, who has served as manager to Geri, Victoria, Mel B, Emma and Mel C, wants to give a ‘true account’ of the Spice Girls through the show and has told them that it is unlikely that any moaning or arguing captured on film will be edited out.
“He’s told the girls the editing will be very light and no topic is off limits,” a source told the Daily Mirror.
“The eating disorders, the fisticuffs, the bitchiness - it will all be there
“Geri in particular is keen to get a few things off her chest about how she felt she was bullied and pressured.”
Just last week the girls were forced to defend their decision to lip-synch to their music at their eagerly-anticipated comeback gig at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
Jungle holds no fears for victorious Lynn
The Public Relations guru Lynne Franks has been forced to endure yet another Bushtucker Trial in a bid to win much-needed rations for her fellow stars of I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!
The self-titled Alpha Female of the show was forced by its producers to negotiate a Tunnel of Terror, with the prize stars hidden among hundreds of insects, snakes, eels, rats and scorpions.
After shrugging off the creepy-crawlies for ten minutes, Lynne emerged victorious with a number of stars to make sure that the C-list stars would not go hungry for another night.
Commenting on her experience, she said: “Absolutely every phobia that anybody could ever have been waiting down there and I know they were hurting me but I just had to focus on the stars, you’ve just got to go and get the job done.”
At the same time, model Gemma Atkinson and former boyband star Jason ‘J’ Brown were busy bonding over talk of the shifting allegiances within the camp, with the latter decidedly unimpressed by Janice Dickinson’s bossy manner.
OB set to quit Hollyoaks
Sam “OB” O’Brien is set to leave the popular Channel 4 drama show ‘Hollyoaks’ after ten years on screen, according to reports.
Darren Jefferies, who has played OB for the past decade, has signalled his intention to seek out “new challenges” and the show’s producer has expressed his desire to give viewers the exit story line “that the character deserves”.
Jefferies’ decision to leave the soap will split up the much-loved on-screen duo of OB and Max Cunnigham, which saw him and Mat Littler nominated for best partnership at the British Soap Awards this year and in 2006.
“After ten years on the show I now feel the time is right to move on,” Jefferies is quoted as saying by the BBC. “It was a difficult decision to make and I will be sad to leave Hollyoaks and the wonderful cast and crew, but I am equally excited about the new challenges that lie ahead.”
Four of the Hollyoaks cast will be performing a medley of songs by the band T-Rex in the name of charity this evening (November 16th) as part of the BBC’s Children in Need fund-raising appeal.
