Oscars Announced – Rourke cries over spilt Milk

The winners of this year’s Oscars have been announced, and while the apple cart wasn’t completely rocked, at least there was a little nudge to keep us awake.

While the majority of the announcements were predictably underwhelming, Sean Penn’s surprising nabbing of the Best Actor Award for his role in Milk served to make the night at least momentarily intriguing. With a whole heap of pre-Oscar awards, comeback interviews and nights out on the town, it was obvious that Rourke was expecting to win as much as we all thought he would.

But don’t worry Mickey. The way you’re going, you’ve only got another 20 years to wait for your next chance.

In other less shocking but just as heart-warming news, Heath Ledger deservedly received a post-humous Best Supporting Actor award for his brilliant turn as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

Similarly, Penelope Cruz left a happy lady after scooping the Best Supporting Actress award for her fiery, screen brightening turn in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Slumdog Millionaire is now officially the ‘Little Film that Did’ after ruling the roost with an amazing eight Oscars, bagging Boyle his first Oscar and ensuring his overhead luggage

Scroll down a full list of winners and then let us know if you agree with the results – Did Ledger really deserve it or was it more of a pity award? Should Rourke have bagged the top spot? Post your comments below.
