The Proposal star and general man-candy, Ryan Reynolds, has been cast as DC hero, Hal Jordan AKA The Green Lantern.

Justin Timberlake and Bradley ‘The Hangover‘ Cooper were also up for the part but lost out to quick-witted Reynolds who is known for his deadpan comedy style. Reynolds is set to be the new darling of the superhero scene, taking over from Hugh Jackman, known for his role as Wolverine.

This is set to create a lot of tension with fans of The Green Lantern as Reynolds recently played Deadpool in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. There is a rivalry between their comic creators: DC Comics and Marvel respectively. But with Reynolds also slated for his own Deadpool movie, how will fans react to him playing two different heroes for two different brands?

The ‘story of will’ will take place in the regular DC Universe. If you’re a fan then you know what that means. If not, don’t worry about it. The IMDB page for the movies sums up the story as: ‘A man is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.’

Sounds nice.

Here’s a fan made trailer for the movie; instead of Reynolds in the lead it’s Nathan Fillion from Serenity. If you thought choosing Reynolds was good casting, this might change your mind…
