Leonardo Di Caprio’s Appian Way film production company is preparing a new version of Little Red Riding Hood, according to reports.

Unfortunately Leo will not be appearing in front of the camera, but the screenplay is currently being written by David Johnson, the man who was responsible for Orphan.

Appian were pleased with the reception the film received and have commissioned the writer to pen a version of the age-old yarn.

Anyone who has seen Orphan will not need to be told that this new version of Red Riding Hood is likely to be far darker than any previous versions – which shouldn’t be hard.

Johnson has some writing pedigree however – he was Frank Darabont’s assistant on projects such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

This should be an interesting project, and rumours are that the wolf in question has signed up for the upcoming sequel; Three Little Pigs, which will also star Russell Crowe and Rob Schneider.
