Disney’s revenue sense was tingling over the weekend as it bought Marvel Entertainment in a massive $4 billion deal.

The purchase will give Disney access to more than 5,000 characters including Spider-Man, The Hulk and X-Men.

But some fans have voiced strong messages of anger. Sitting in his parent’s basement, one such geek wrote: “Disney buys Marvel comics?! NOT COOL! SOOOO NOT HAPPY! Spider-Man should not be co-mingling with Goofy”.

However Marvel bosses have spoken out to deny that any changes will be made to some of the most popular comic-book characters in history.

The purchase will give Disney access to a wide-range of merchandising and TV and Movie tie-ins as it seeks to appeal to boys in the same way it does effortlessly to girls with shows like Hannah Montana.

As long as we don’t see Bruce Banner bursting into song, we’ll be happy.
