Juno Writer To Script Sweet Valley High Film

It’s the news that no-one has been waiting for – but we’re going to give it to you anyway.

Diablo Cody, who won an Oscar for her screenplay to Juno, has been tipped to write a big-screen adaptation of Sweet Valley High, the annoyingly long-running series of books which was subsequently made into an even more annoying TV show.

Universal Pictures is still in negotiations to obtain the movie rights. We can only assume that other parties are sensibly trying to prevent the studio from acquiring them to ensure that this piece of cinema is never made.

Despite their popularity among teens, the original books were widely criticised as unrealistic. Not only were both girls stunningly beautiful, but one suffered the death of five boyfriends and the other fell in love with a Parisian prince and an English viscount.

It should be quite a film.

Gulp.
