There really does seem to be something in the air in movieland at the minute, Brett Ratner has declared war on X-Men fans, and now Terry Gilliam hit out at Hollywood bosses and claimed “I’ll never get an Oscar.”

Sorry Terry, but it took them nearly three decades to give Scorsese one, so you may be towards the back of the queue.

“I won’t be getting an Academy Award – I’ll predict that – ever. And somehow, my life will be no less for that!” He told the Daily Telegraph unconvincingly.

The director was explaining that he struggled to get funding for his latest film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

“You would think that there’s intelligent life in Hollywood. But then you discover that there’s just fear.”

“People are frightened of making decisions or even having – I hate to use the word ‘vision’, but they lack all of that. Hollywood is run by Goldman Sachs and not by entrepreneurs or studio people.” He added grumpily.
