Roman Polanski Denied Bail Release

For some reason Swiss authorities have decided that Roman Polanski (who fled to France before he could be sentenced in 1977) poses a “high flight risk” and have refused to grant him bail.

The controversial but popular movie director had appealed for release after being arrested last month in relation to a US conviction for having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old-girl.

Lawyers working for Polanski – who is currently awaiting extradition to the US – vowed to take the matter to Switzerland’s highest tribunal.

As he revved the engine of a powerful motorcar, legal representative Herve Temime said: “We will seek to demonstrate that there is no risk in ordering Roman Polanski’s release.”
