Nickolodeon Buys Ninja Turtles Rights
Imagine our delight when this nugget of news-gold landed on our the untidy desks of the OTB office.
The Turtles? Back in a feature length movie? Surely this was too good to be true…
But we were not imagining things and are very happy to tell you that these pizza-loving creatures, along with Master Splinter and April (what was the deal there?) should be returning to our screens by 2012.
Nickolodeon have bought the rights to the heroes in a half-shell from Mirage for the princely sum of $60 million and are planning a film and a CG-animated TV series.
For those who don’t know them well, the four baby turtles were created in 1984 by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, and were four baby turtles mutated into human-sized intelligent characters, their mutated rat master named them after Renaissance artists and taught them martial arts, which they subsequently used to beat up Shredder and his henchmen on a daily basis.
