Timberlake, Faris, Aykroyd Sign Up For Yogi Bear (Travesty?)
The latest strip-mining of our childhood cartoon-to-movie adaptations has been cast. Joining the bandwagon—Alvin and the Chipmunks, Garfield, and Scooby-Doo – is Yogi Bear, with Aykroyd as Yogi, Timberlake as Boo Boo, and—since this is a live-action/CG—Anna Faris as a documentary filmmaker who stumbles upon them in Jellystone Park, reports Variety.
To jog your memory, Hanna-Barbera’s econo-animation series followed the antics of Yogi and his sidekick Boo Boo. The two stole countless picnic baskets from human campers in the fictional campground.
Journey to the Center of the Earth director Eric Brevig is set to direct the movie. His 3D flick from last summer earned Warner Bros. a whopping $230 million. Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, both executive producers on “That 70s Show,” are writing the screenplay.
The Yogi Bear movie is hoped for a 2011 release.
