Mariah Carey To Win Film Award That Isn’t A Razzie

Mariah Carey is making headlines again. No, it is not another breakdown. The American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer and sometime actress has been given the ‘Breakthrough Performance Award’ at the 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Mind you, this award has previously been won by the likes of Freida Pinto, Jennifer Hudson and Marion Cotillard–all of which went on to win Oscars for their performances.

Carey has received the coveted honor for playing social worker Ms. Weiss in the critically acclaimed film, Precious. Barely noticeable with middle-aged Mum hair and donning no make-up whatsoever, Carey has been described as “credible” by the Hollywood Reporter for her two scenes.

It should be interesting.

I agree with the writter. Mariah was given the award, she did nothing to earn it. The movie was very good, but Marish role was small. She should not even be considered for an award. Paula patten did a super job. Where is her awards. Mariah’s singing career is kinder on the down side, so here come hollywood trying to life her up. Talent stands alone as does the truth.
