Gerard Butler To Be First Film Ambassador For Glasgow
As we found out a couple of weeks ago, Gerard Butler is a very angry man. Lovable – but very angry.
When you remember that he’s from Glasgow that’s not really very surprising. But the Scotsman is famously proud of his roots, he worked hard to get the premiere for his new film Law Abiding Citizen in Glasgow and even wore a kilt on the evening itself.
It is fitting then that the actor has just been appointed as the first ever Film Ambassador for the Glasgow Film Office.
This role is part of an effort to re-assert Glasgow’s image as a film-friendly city, offering services in all things film related, from cordoning off areas for filming to funding location recce trips.
“Glasgow is a great place to make movies,” he says. “You can shoot anything here from urban and contemporary to rural and period. The crews are fantastic and it is an easy city to get around rather than spending the endless hours in traffic when you make movies elsewhere.”
Trainspotting 2 anyone?
