Up In The Air Leads Golden Globe Nominations
Jason Reitman’s drama, which centres on a corporate downsizer trying to collect 10 million frequent flyer miles, has been nominated in the ‘Best Drama’, ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Director’ categories, and the film’s stars Clooney, Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick have been put forward for individual awards.
“I can’t put into words how exciting it is to feel and to know that I’ll be going to the Golden Globes with everyone I worked with on this film,” Reitman told AP.
“This was one of those ensembles that we really enjoyed working together. We’re a tight-knit family. The idea that we’re going together is just wonderful.”
Musical Nine picked up five nominations, including ‘Best Musical Or Comedy Film’ and nods for Daniel Day Lewis, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard.
Meanwhile Britain has a strong turn out in the ‘Best Actress’ category, with Carey Mulligan (An Education), Helen Mirren (The Last Station) and Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria) landing nominations – Judi Dench obviously wasn’t trying this year.
The Golden Globes take place on January 17 next year in Los Angeles.
