deppUpcoming Johnny Depp thriller, The Tourist is back on track after securing a director in the shape of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (trying saying that a after you’ve had a few).

The tongue-twisting director gained critical acclaim for the brilliant The Lives Of Others . He was previously attached to the project but dropped out due to creative differences.

Now he’s returned and this will hopefully put an end to the endless wrangling which has seen actors including Tom Cruise, Sam Worthington and Charlize Theron and directors Alfonso Cuaron (Children Of Men) and Bharat Nalluri (The Crow: Salvation, Life On Mars) all attached at some point.

The film is adapted from the French film Anthony Zimmer and will see Depp as a tourist pulled into a web of intrigue by lips on legs Angelina Jolie as she tries to capture a criminal.

Filming begins in the spring and it should be out next year. Watch this space.
