Andrea Arnold Takes On Wuthering Heights
Brit director Andrea Arnold made waves last year with her gritty Essex drama Fish Tank, but now she’ll be taking on a classic.
Variety has announced that Arnold will sign on to direct an adaptation on Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights.
Set on the wild Yorkshire moors, it’s based around the family drama and love trinagle between Cathy Earnshaw, the sensible Edgar and passionate Heathcliff.
The production has been running less than smoothly for a while now with several directors and actresses in line for parts only to change their minds. John Maybury, director of Edge Of Love, had previously been attached as had Natalie Portman.
We’re kind of happy that Natalie will be skipping another role where she needs an English accent.
Arnold has thus far only directed material that she’s written herself but now she’ll be taking on an adaptation by Olivia Hetreed, writer of Girl With A Pearl Earring.
