Fast And Furious Five Gets Green Light
That’s it, cancel the 2012 Oscars because there’s only going to be one winner that year and that’s the fifth film in the Fast & Furious franchise, creatively codenamed Fast Five, is revving up for a 2011 release.
It’s been rumoured for some time but now potato-headed beefcake Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and director Justin Lin have all signed up to return to the series.
Depressingly the series about cars going brrrm has earned Universal more than $350 million worldwide in 2009 alone, making it the studio’s top earner. It’s no surprise then that they’re gearing up for another instalment – when it comes to pitching movies, nothing shouts louder than cold, hard cash.
It’s being penned by Chris Morgan who wrote the last two films and apparently features Diesel and Walker undertaking a journey of spiritual rediscovery whilst listening to Enya.
Oh, wait, scratch that, it’s about them driving flashy cars very fast away from frustrated lawmen. More of the same then.
It’s being shot this year for a 2011 release. Petrol heads everywhere, start your engines…
