christopher waltz 210x300Everyone’s favourite Nazi Christoph Waltz has signed on to star in I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence’s Water For Elephants, according to reports from DeadlineHollywood.

The Inglourious Basterds star will reportedly play a paranoid schizophrenic animal trainer in a circus. Um, OK.

The movie will also star Twilight’s Robert Pattinson as a vetinary student who falls for the circus’ star performer and Waltz’s wife, played by Reese Witherspoon.

Based on the novel by Sara Gruen, the script was penned by Richard LaGravanese, writer of the upcoming Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.

We couldn’t be happier for Waltz; he’s moved straight into the big leagues with his Oscar nominated performance of Colonel Landa in Basterds, to signing on to The Green Hornet, The Talking Cure and now this. Well done.

Sounds a bit odd to me.

Pattinson plays the protagonist Jacob, Witherspoon is Marlena. Okay so far. Then we have the brutal animal trainer, Marlena’s husband August AND the mean and violent circus owner Uncle Al.

Christoph Waltz will play the character of August, the husband? But WHO plays Uncle Al then?

I could imagine that Sean Penn is still in to play August and Waltz plays Uncle Al instead.

Other characters are the dwarf Kinko, the alcoholic Camel and the nurse Rosemary.

Anyway, great news, because of the Waltz-factor.
