Gurdians of Gha’Hoole210x300Zack Snyder, the man responsible for The Watchmen *groan*, is now behind another adaptation of a series of books called The Guardians of Ga’Hoole.

According to the film’s IMDB synopsis, it’s about, ‘Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers.

He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s. The film is based on the first three books in the series.’

There’s been some disappointment from fans about the fact that Snyder has had to change the name to Legend of the Guardians but to be honest, they’re going to be known as ‘those owl movies’.

Snyder told USA Today that he was scaling back violent themes for the kiddie’s sake. “Scenes that might not seem so intense on the written page but would be too much on screen. We wanted to pull back a little.”

Good decision; owls ripping holy hell out of each other might be a bit much on the big screen.

We’d never actually heard of the books before now so we’re not exactly jazzed about it, but it does look pretty. If you’re a fan of the books, let us know what you think. Drop a comment down below and tell us if they look how you’d imagined the characters.
