rebecca hallRebecca Hall (you know the one from Dorian Gray and Frost/Nixon – no? Nevermind) has signed up to star opposite Will Ferrell in new indie drama Everything Must Go.

The low-budget film (just $10 million – that’s pocket change for a Hollywood movie these days), based on the short story by Raymond Carver will see Ferrell play an alcoholic who loses his job and gets locked out of the house by his wife along with all his stuff. Camping out on the lawn for four days, he decides to try to sell all his possessions.

Hall will play a woman that moves into the neighbourhood and has a “special” relationship with him. Exactly what that means remains to be seen, but given the way these things often go, it’s likely to be a love interest of sorts.

Will Ferrell not doing “comedy”? Whatever will he think of next? Still, it’ll give him a chance to air his acting chops rather than simply playing oddballs; sure that can only be a good thing?
