Paul+Potts210The Paul Potts movie which would have been produced by Simon Cowell has been shelved by Paramount Pictures.

The film about the Britain’s Got Talent winner which had the working title One Chance would have seen the Welshman’s rise from mobile phone salesman to opera singer and was going to be produced by Simon Cowell with Becoming Jane director Julian Jarrold in the chair.

But according to The Sun, the project’s been axed over stalling for casting of the lead actor.

Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn, who was going to be involved in producing the film (as bizarre as that seems) said, “It should have gone ahead. Simon and I had a good vision for how the film should be, and it would have been brilliant.”

“But the studios were umm-ing and ahh-ing and they missed the opportunity to do it. It’s tragic, because the script was brilliant. Simon had done a great job. I was looking forward to working with him and it would have been a big hit.”

Hmm, we’d like to disagree. It sounds like a terrible idea and it’s probably good that Vaughn can work on something a bit more suited to his talents.
