rpattzguitarArtiTwilight star Robert Pattison is to play Kurt Cobain in a big budget biopic.

The pin-up has been cast by Cobain’s widow Courtney Love who has creative control on the production. Reportedly, the Hole lead singer wants Scarlett Johansson to play her.

A source told The Sun: “This is a big money deal for Courtney. She has agreed to the film on condition that she gets to decide the main aspects of the project including director, casting, screenplay and music.

“Robert has been calling and emailing her non-stop. She has been a bit wound up by his manners, but he is her number one choice to play Kurt.”

According to the tabloid Love has been in touch with director David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en, Curious Case Of Benjamin Button) about the project, which has the working title All Apologies.

R-Pattz has been stretching his acting skills beyond the vampire franchise he started in, recently filling the role of an angst ridden student in Remember Me. He can actually play guitar too and has done so in a film – 2008’s How To Be (pictured).

It is not the first attempt to make a film of the Nirvana star’s short life. Sony Pictures were turned down by Love when they floated the idea of Zac Efron as Kurt. It could be worse, a West End play about the tragic singer has Gary Lucy lined up for the title role.
