bradpitt300x210Though we can’t vouch for how necessary it is to remake The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, we can verify that’s always necessary to cast Brad Pitt in a movie, which is apparently what’s happened.

Well, nearly. According to IndieWire via DigitalSpy, Brad Pitt’s a ‘strong bet’ to join the cast which would reunite him with Se7en and Fight Club director David Fincher.

In addition to Pitt circling the project, it looks like An Education star and Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan has also won a role.

After battling it out with Kristen Stewart, star of Twilight and The Runaways, The Times is reporting that Mulligan has won the role of Lisbeth Salander.

Mulligan is previously quoted as praising the books and admitting that she was a fan. “I am obsessed with those books. I would love to do them. I am not going to lie about that. I would love to play Lisbeth Salander.”

While we’re waiting on confirmation of these castings, we can breathe a sigh of relief that this project isn’t shaping up to be the total disaster we were expecting.
