rourke_mickey - 210Mickey Rourke has made the sensational assertion that he is set to play Genghis Khan in a movie that is set to be a true epic.

Writing and directing the story of the all-conquering Mongol Emperor is John Millius, who was at the heart of the Apocalypse Now screenplay.

The star of The Wrestler spoke to the Orlando Sentinel about the merits of his new expected role, “I read his script and you know, the man is known for his tough writing. He wrote Conan and Dirty Harry and Apocalypse Now, and it’ll be interesting to see how he works behind the camera.”

Rourke’s success with The Wrestler and his role in the massive Iron Man 2 represents the collateral of an actor sure to be able to fill the large boots of a fearsome historical leader. Although Millius has had mixed commercial writing success, we can’t wait for a film that, with Rourke’s help, cannot fail to be massive.

Genghis Khan was not white and anyone praising this casting should be ashamed of themselves. Can they not find an Asian actor to play this role? This is disgusting. Yellowface should not be happening in Hollywood in 2010.
