Danny Huston To Play Holocaust Survivor
Danny Huston – star of Ivans XTC, 21 Grams and presently starring in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood – has announced that he will be putting down his armour in favour of a basketball in his latest project ‘Playoff’.
Based on the true story of Ralph Klein, the actor will play Max Stoller who, having survived the Holocaust, takes the decision to train the West German basketball team.
As controversy begins to surround him in Israel he is forced to confront his traumatising past whilst training the team in Frankfurt. Huston joins a considerable list of actors who have played Holocaust survivors which will probably guarantee him an Oscar.
Huston told The Hollywood Reporter that: “I have to speak German and Hebrew and even play a bit of basketball, so it’ll be a challenge,” Huston told THR. “But the film is really about childhood and how the stories and memories of your past are often lies.”
Shooting will begin in Frankfurt on June 29th.
