Kaufman Casts Sunshine Unto Kung-Fu Panda
It has emerged that Charlie Kaufman has been hired by DreamWorks Animation to add finishing touches to the final draft of the Kung-Fu Panda sequel. The unexpected appointment of the leftfield writer/director is – in actuality – a common practice in Hollywood where many accomplished writers often ditch their normal creative impulses in exchange for a healthy pay check.
It is alleged by Heat Vision that the writer took no more than a fortnight to complete the script which is currently titled Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom. Fans of Kaufman – responsible for the critically acclaimed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation and recent directorial debut Synedoche, New York – shouldn’t raise their hopes that the film will bear any imprint of the Oscar Award-winning writer who is probably using the opportunity to fund his own, less commercially viable, projects.
