Worthington Rumoured To Play Quatermain
Sam Worthington is poised to return to the sci-fi genre in an adaptation of H. Rider Haggard’s novels starring the eponymous Allan Quatermain. DreamWorks are developing the project which will also launch Worthington as a producer.
The project is currently without a director but with such a valuable commodity as Worthington – whose last two films have grossed over $3 billion dollars – various talents are bound to be queuing up to take on the film.
With degrees of artistic license Quatermain will travel back to a now uninhabited Earth and undergo a similar adventure to that detailed in Rider’s first instalment King Soloman’s Mines.
Rider’s novels enjoyed a recent resurgence in the TV mini-series King Soloman’s Mine starring Patrick Swayze as Quartermain. There is a devout following for the Victorian novels which inspired, among many other films and literature, the Indiana Jones series.
