Harry Potter Director In Line For Hobbit?
After some serious financing difficulties, The Hobbit was left without a director as Guillermo Del Toro walked away from the project. Must be that fiery Mexican temperament.
But we could hardly blame him, there were those who were sceptical of the Pan’s Labrynth director taking on the British classic, especially since the Lord of the Rings movies had set the bar so high.
One concern was that he doesn’t always have the best grasp on dialogue when it’s in English as noted in the Hellboy movies, but we were definitely excited to see him tackle The Hobbit. Now that he’s gone, the name game begins again over who will take Guillermo’s place and the latest is Harry Potter director David Yates.
Whether you’re a Potter fan or not, you have to admit, they look good. Yates has taken things up a notch in the magical franchise and could be the perfect man to bring J. R. R. Tolkein’s work to the big screen. According to The Wrap, Yates’ reps have denied that he’s been offered the job but industry whispers and an insider email suggest otherwise.
Are they holding back until there’s confirmation or is the whole thing pure speculation? Who else could take over directing duties? Drop a comment down below.
