Neill Blomkamp Tipped To Direct The Hobbit
A couple of months ago we were hearing that The Hobbit could potentially start shooting in June but as teh month comes to a close, studio bosses still haven’t confirmed a director to replace Guillermo Del Toro.
Co-financiers MGM and Warner Bros. have reportedly been trying to persuade Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson to return, but the Kiwi is said to be reluctant as he fears that he may struggle to meet the standard set during his original trilogy.
So the latest name being banded by Ringers ™ on the net is District 9 director Neill Blomkamp. According to JRR Tolkien fansite The One Ring, the South African will be the next on studio bosses hit list if they are unable to persuade Jackson.
Del Toro had previously been attached to make the Tolkien adaptation, but dropped out of helming the film last month due to the financial uncertainty surrounding MGM.
