Warners Build Movie Out Of LEGO
Well, we thought it was a just a ridiculous rumour but it looks like the LEGO movie is now in full swing as it’s nabbed Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller to lay the foundations.
It’ll be a combination of live action and animation (presumably like a knobbly Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) – an idea which Lord and Miller pitched at the recent Lego Convention in Fremont (the thought of a LEGO convention has me giggling into my tea – surely the chairs are really uncomfortable?).
As stupid as it sounds, Warners are also behind the brilliant series of Lego games which have film tie-ins (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Batman), which are fun and family friendly, so it wouldn’t be too much of stretch to see how that format plays out on the big screen.
No word on casting yet, but as it will involve inanimate plastic, we’d suggest Hayden Christensen or Orlando Bloom – perhaps they can play a couple of fake trees in the background or something.
Miller and Lord (sounds like a brewery) are currently working on a 21 Jump Street remake with Jonah Hill but we gather they’ll be constructing plot, details, aeroplanes, castles and spaceships out of little square bricks after that.
