Nolan Won’t Replace Ledger As Joker
As movie roles go, replacing Heath Ledger as the Joker in the next Batman film is not so much a poisoned chalice, but a cocktail of assorted lethal toxins. The Aussie’s performance has been rightly deified in the wake of his untimely passing.
It is little wonder then that Christopher Nolan has decided not to try and replace Ledger in 2012’s sequel to The Dark Knight.
“For me, Heath was the definitive Joker,” he said. “It wouldn’t feel appropriate to re-address that character.”
He may have retired the character, but he has yet to name the villain to feature in the as yet unnamed sequel.
