David Cross Talks Arrested Development Movie
David Cross has stated that he is “optimistic” about the upcoming Arrested Development movie. The much awaited big screen adaptation of the hit US sit-com is currently in the early stages of development.
“I’m more optimistic about it than I was a year ago,” Cross told Zap2It. “[I won’t believe it] until I’m standing on set and someone yells, ‘Action!’ That’s when I’ll believe it’s really real.”
He also joked with fans about the plot of the film: “It’ll be the year 2087. He’ll be working on a garbage barge in space. And it’ll be made out of wasabi peas, which, of course, he’s allergic to. But he’ll be hungry…”
Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz had earlier revealed that he was “halfway through” completing the script. Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, he said: “Were writing it; we’re halfway through. The reason I’ve been so cagey is fans have been so [eager about it]. I really want to do it.”
Hurwitz also added: “It’s going to be fun, like a family reunion […] the only stumbling block could be scheduling. Everybody wants to play together.”
