Sam Worthington Confirmed As Dracula
If you’re making a high-profile CGI blockbuster, it seems that Sam Worthington is the only person you want to hire as your leading man at the moment. The Aussie has starred in Avatar and Clash of the Titans in the last 12 months and now he has signed on the play the central role in Dracula: Year Zero.
The film will focus on the story of how Prince Vlad of Transylvania became the famous bloodsucker.
The producer of the film Mike de Luca told Encore: “These writers came up with what I think is an ingenious-approach combining historical Dracula with Bram Stoker’s Dracula. “I think vampires are endlessly appropriate candidates for reinvention because there’s something in the DNA in that mythology that appeals to every generation. Every generation owns their own version of the vampire myth.”
Worthington could have a busy 2011 though – he as also signed up for Avatar 2 as well as a sequel to Clash of the Titans.
