Andie McDowell For Footloose?
Responsible for stinking up otherwise decent movies (Four Weddings And A Funeral, Groundhog Day) and relegated for years to the small screen in the easy to turn off form of 30 second hair care adverts, Andie McDowell looks like she might return to the big screen in the remake of 80s dance ’em up classic, Footloose.
She’s signed up to play the wife of the Randy Quaid’s character – the music-hating preacher Reverend Moore, who gets a bee in his bonnet about Ren, the new kid in school who’s whipped the town up into a toe-tapping musical frenzy. She’ll be taking over a role originally played by Diane Wiest, who gave a fairly subdued and quiet performance – it’ll hardly be a stretch.
That’s the latest in casting news in a film that’s been plagued by production difficulties – Zac Efron and Chace Crawford were both lined up for the lead at various points and the film at one point had Kenny Ortega in the director’s chair before finally settling on Craig Brewer. It seems to be settling down now, so everyone can get back to murdering a the 80s right on schedule.
