Dustin Hoffman Back In For Little Fockers
After some weeks of rumours, it’s now been confirmed that Dustin Hoffman will return in the second sequel to Meet The Parents – Little Fockers.
Six new scenes are being filmed next month according to Deadline, four of which will feature Bernie Focker who’s now been written back into the script after being removed when the production team couldn’t reach a deal with Hoffman. The film was officially done and dusted a few months ago but finished surprisingly under budget (in a film which is reportedly costing a staggering $100m), so Universal have decided to dip their hands back into their ermine-lined pockets.
Apparently it’s a role not dissimilar from the role that Hoffman was offered in the first place. He’ll still play across from Barbara Streisand and he’ll still be in the film’s finale.
The studio are clearly keen to play up his involvement – apparently there was nothing wrong with the film as it was but they wanted to make it even better. Presumably for a given value of “better”.
Hoffman will join franchise regulars Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Pol, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson, plus new faces in the shape of Jessica Alba, Laura Dern and Harvey Keitel. It’ll be out just in time for Christmas on the 22nd December.
