Steve Buscemi And Sigourney Weaver Scale Rampart
It’s been quiet since April regarding Oren Moverman’s follow up to The Messenger, Rampart, but now casting news is getting a full head of steam.
Woody Harrelson is already set to star in the cop drama but now Steve Buscemi, Sigourney Weaver, Cynthia Nixon, Anne Heche and Robin Wright has all jumped aboard. Written by James McEllroy (L.A. Confidential, The Black Dahlia), Rampart tells the story of crime and corruption in the LAPD during the 1990s, loosely based on true life events which rocked the police force, a story which already inspired Michael Chiklis vehicle The Shield.
Ben Foster, fresh from The Messenger is already on the cast list along with an unlikely appearance from Ice Cube as another cop (Body Count this ain’t!).
Buscemi has recently got our hopes sky high for Boardwalk Empire, a new HBO series about the prohibition in the 20s written by Sopranos‘ Terence Winter and directed by Martin Scorsese. If that fails to be absolultely brilliant, I’ll eat my Trillby.
