Scorsese210In what looks so far like a dream team for organised crime on film, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro may be set to team up with Martin Scorsese in The Irishman, the true-life story of union official-turned-mob hitman Frank ‘The Irishman’ Sheehan.

Joe Pesci is also said to be circling the film which is starting to look more like a Goodfellas reunion with the added bonus of Pacino. Perhaps Pesci and Pacino could have a shout off on set?

It’s based on Sheehan’s book I Heard You Paint Houses and adapted for the screen by Steve Zaillian who wrote Schindler’s List, so there’s some heavyweight talent behind the project.

Pacino and De Niro haven’t been seen together on screen since the underwhelming Righteous Kill in 2008. Pesci’s been somewhat of a Scorsese regular, working with him on Casino, Goodfellas and Raging Bull.

Ray Liotta anyone?
