Duncan Jones To Direct Superman?
With Inception‘s buzz dying down, Christopher Nolan can turn his attention to his producer duties for the forthcoming Superman film. And among those that have made the shortlist so far is our very own Duncan Jones.
According to Deadline, Jones, who did sterling work on the excellent Moon is being considering along with the likes of Tony Scott, Zach Snyder and Tony Reeves.
It’s unsurprising that there’s a cluster of directors being lined up given Nolan’s involvement (not to mention the unholy mess that was Superman Returns which we’re sure Warners would rather not have repeated)
Given Moon‘s success, Jones has be propelled into the spotlight somewhat, especially with the more effects-heavy work he did on Source Code. The prospect of Tony Scott directing Superman fills with dread, given that he recently directed The Taking Of Pelham 123 and seems to have real trouble keeping a camera still for more than a nano-second. Zach Snyder seems like a fairly obvious choice give his work on comic adaptations and superheros (300 and Watchmen) – could that work for The Man Of Steel? And Matt Reeves’ work on Cloverfield and the forthcoming American version of Let The Right One In, Let Me In will ensure he’s in Hollywood’s recent memory.
We’ll know their choice in a few weeks but Superman won’t get off the ground for at least a couple of years. Something to look forward to or not?
