Scarlet Pimpernel Set For Big Screen
The Scarlet Pimpernel is back – well, in cinematic form that is. It has been announced that Baroness Emmuska Orczy’s famous literary character, who arguably set the trend for future masked super heroes, is due for a new adaptation by Fairbanks Productions.
The first stories of Sir Percy Blakeney were written in 1905 and charted his double life of aristocratic opulence and brave daring-do in saving men from the guillotine during a particularly bloody spell in the French Revolution.
Empire has published rumours that the series will be dealt with in a similar manner to Guy Ritchie’s recent adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries.
It is currently thought that Neil Jackson (Quantum of Solace) will win the title role.
