Gibson Booted Off Hangover 2
Troubled star Mel Gibson has suffered a backlash to his many recent personal troubles – including allegations of domestic violence and a recorded threatening phone call to his ex – by having his planned cameo in a sequel to The Hangover scrapped.
The 54-year-old Braveheart star, who had planned the appearance as a light-hearted way to win back favour with fans, had the offer revoked after director Todd Phillips thought his presence may cause too much tension with other cast and crew members.
On the Yahoo! News site, Phillips was quoted as saying: “I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of (Warner Bros. boss) Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”
This is a decision Gibson will no doubt be kicking himself (or a spouse) for. The first film featured past ne’re do well Mike Tyson, and helped set him slightly back on track with the audience at large.
