No Kahn For Star Trek 2
Paying no attention to the miasmic soup of fanboy whining, the makers of Star Trek 2 have revealed that the sequel to last year’s successful reboot will not feature Khan Noonien Singh.
According to Badass, the story’s finally been nailed down but it apparently “won’t focus on a traditional villain type at all” but that it will feature a character or characters from the original series’ first season.
When pushed for details, all the source said was, “It’s definitely a character that will make fans of The Original Series excited. Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta… Actually it’s one of those that I named.”
Some explanation here is required for the unitiated.
Harry Mudd was an intergalactic conman pursued by his nagging wife Stella, who tried to sell women and ended up as the king of a race of androids; Trelane was playful juvenile god-like being (a bit like Q from The Next Generation); Gary Mitchell was a helmsmen who developed telepathic and telekinetic powers; the Talosians were bulbous-headed aliens that could create illusions with their minds and were the first aliens encountered in the original series, and the Horta were lumps of sentient space rock that dissolved miners with acid.
So, are you excited Trek Fans? You with the Spock ears…
