DiCaprio To Play Serial Killer
Halloween is clearly still on Leonardo DiCaprio’s mind as he announced today that he will take the role of a gruesome serial killer in the adaptation of The Devil In The White City, which tells the true story of Daniel H. Burnham and Dr H.H. Holmes, the latter of whom was a serial killer pretending to be a doctor.
With Burnham being the architect behind Chicago’s 1893 World Fair, Holmes had the perfect torture room and would kill his victims in his “Murder Castle”, which contained a dissection table, gas chamber and a crematorium. He is thought to have killed up to 200 people during the World Fair and is considered America’s first serial killer.
According to THR, Hollywood heartthrob DiCaprio has confirmed he’ll be taking up the role of the murderous Holmes and will be producing the movie with his company Appian Way, alongside business partner Jennifer Killoran.
Killoran called the upcoming film, “truly a one-of-its-kind American story about our nation’s first serial killer. We’re exited to bring it to the big screen. I think that a guy who is that intelligent and that charismatic is nothing less than complex, and it’s that complexity that [DiCaprio] is drawn to…and because people don’t know much about [Holmes], it makes it even more interesting.”
