oz_gallery_5_2010_a_pExciting new concept art has emerged as Dan St. Pierre’s production, Dorothy of Oz finally gets underway. Judy Garland’s Dorothy will always be remembered as the definitive ruby-shoed young girl from Kansas, but these snaps suggest that this new version could eclipse all other Oz remakes (we’re talking about the freaky Michael Jackson tribute and the terribly embarrassing Muppet version).

The genre of classic 3D reimagining has been doing a roaring trade since Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland hit cinemas earlier this year and the childhood fantasy The Wizard of Oz is still untouched by way of awesome remake. But these images (the work of Seth Engstrom, the same conceptual artist responsible for Burton’s sojourn in Wonderland) seem to suggest that Dan St Pierre’s production should also be a hit. At the box office at least.

Blues Brother’s star Dan Aykroyd will be providing the voice of Scarecrow and Kelsey Grammer, of Frasier fame, will be lending his chords to the Tin Man.
