Weisz Up For Dark Knight Rises?
The Dark Knight Rises‘ rumour mill continues to turn this today, but at least its been making progress over the last few weeks. Chrsitopher Nolan has nailed down a title (that was probably a couple of days work) and an actor to play a main new character in the form of Tom Hardy (Inception). That process took the team behind The Hobbit about two years, and they already had a name before they started! Admittedly they did have a few obstacles to overcome..
After taking a short holiday to recover from the stress of creating a snappy moniker for his sequel, the next item on Nolan’s agenda is finding a new leading lady for his caped crusader, and Rachel Weisz is thought to be at the front of the race to claim the role. We say she’s winning the race because we have a soft spot for her, but Deadline Hollywood report that a host of lovely ladies are in the running. Blake Lively, Naomi Watts, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley are just some of the names being thrown around.
They shouldn’t despair though because it has been reported that there will be two roles available to the hopefuls. One is thought to be as a romantic interest for Bruce Wayne (following the cruel demise of Maggie Gyllenhall in the last film) and the other as an accomplice for Tom Hardy’s villain. Hardy’s has yet to be confirmed as the baddie for The Dark Knight Rises, but it seems increasingly likely that he will be an antagonist. Yet as the cast could once again be expected to sign up before seeing a full script, plot rumours could be thin on the ground for a while yet.
