Bale Exit Could Spell End Of New Batman Trilogy
As Dé La Soul succintly pointed out, three is definitely the magic number. Nowhere is that lyric more true than in the world of film. We could go on about famous trilogies, but.. you know. It would take FOREVER.
Which brings us to the rumours that have been circulating for countless months which suggest that the upcoming Batman film will be the last of the current franchise. Christian Bale added weight to those whisperings by confirming that he will be hanging up his batsuit after The Dark Knight Rises.
“This will be, I believe, until Chris (Nolan, director) says different, the last time I’ll be playing Batman so we want to go all out with it and try to figure a way how to up what we did before,” he told The Sun.
“You’ve always got to up it. I’m excited for it. That’s the problem, it’s the complacency when you start getting into franchise stories like that – you have to have the energy of making it like it’s the only film.”
These comments allude to the fact that Christopher Nolan has been hinting that this will be the final instalment of the revamped comic film series.
“The key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story,” added Bale. “I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters.”
