James Franco For Literary Heavyweights
James Franco is well on his way to becoming one of Hollywood’s busiest actors kicking off 2011 by attempting to secure the film rights to two literary tomes – William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying and Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian according to Showbiz 411.
Apparently Franco’s been trying to secure the rights from the Faulkner estate for As I Lay Dying for quite some time which would eventually be filmed through Fox Searchlight. That would be quite some undertaking as the story utilises multiple points of view and inner voices to tell the story of a family trying to take their matriarch Addie Bundren in to town to be buried.
There’s also a rumour that Franco will team up with Scott Rudin to film Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian but Rudin recently replied to an email denying the news story, so that one’s strictly in the “maybe” pile for now. That’s not exactly small potatoes anyway, it’s a complex story of corruption and scalping across the American Southwest.
Franco’s schedule is already jam packed with the Oscars to host with Anne Hathaway, a whole boatload of other possible projects to develop, university to go to and another tour of duty in the US soap General Hospital to complete. Where he’ll find time for press tours of the up and coming Planet Of The Apes prequel Rise Of The Apes and comedy Your Highness we don’t know. It makes us feel like slackers just thinking about it.
