Jodie Foster Joins Blomkamp’s Elysium
Neill Blomkamp’s been schtum so far regarding any details about Elysium, his follow up to the hugely successful District 9 but it seems big stars are starting to hop on board, the latest of whom is none other than Jodie Foster.
There’s very little known about the plot other than it’ll be set in the distant future on a remote planet but Sharlto Copley has signed up (evidently keen to work with Blomkamp again after District 9) with Matt Damon supposedly attached before Xmas.
There’s much wrangling about the funding for the film but that will surely become easier now that it’s attracted the attention of some big-name stars.
Meanwhile, Foster will direct and star in The Beaver – a…curious story about a man trying to come to terms with psychological illness with the use of a hand puppet which also stars the shall we say, slightly unhinged Mel Gibson. After that, she’ll be in Yasmina Reza’s award-winning play God Of Carnage alongside Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C Reilly which will directed by the no less controversial Roman Polanski.
